Positive COVID Cases

Positive Cases - What to Expect and Norms

Here's what to expect:

  • MCSD will receive and follow specific guidance from Marin Health and Human Services (MHHS). MCSD provides data to MHHS for tracing.
  • The COVID-19 positive person and household members will have to isolate/quarantine.
  • Families and staff members who are in the same cohort or who have had close contact with the COVID-19 positive person will receive an email. Depending on the last date of exposure, the full cohort may have to close.
  • MCSD will communicate with the full school community when there's a positive case, regardless of whether the case affects each grade level.
  • If staffing levels are impacted greatly, MCSD may have to move to remote learning for affected grade levels.
  • If there are multiple cases across cohorts, MCSD may have to move to remote learning for the entire school, and will return to campus as soon as it's safe to do so with guidance from Public Health.
  • We maintain confidentiality. We notify site staff of a potential exposure, but do not share the student/staff name or cohort information. Cohort information, but not student/staff name, will only occur for staff who have had direct contact with that specific cohort.
  • Norms: Please treat each case with respect, and do not ask who the patient is, or engage in speculation. Medical information is confidential. Furthermore, students or staff members should not be shunned or blamed for having been exposed to COVID-19. We are all going through this together.
