Miller Creek School District, along with all other Marin County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday amid continued widespread power outages. The College of Marin and Dominican University of California will also be closed on October 29. 


At the time of making this decision this afternoon, power to only 3,000 PG&E customers out of 123,000 had been restored. Additionally, another PSPS event is expected to impact customers again beginning on October 29 as early as 7:00am. This resulted in a need for school leaders across the county to make a decision in unison rather than district by district. 


One of the biggest challenges during the Public Safety Power Shutoff is a lack of reliable communication via phone, text and email. We will continue posting this information on the website, and attempting to send messages out via email, text and automatic phone dialer and posting notices the door of each school site with the hope that one of these methods works. Updates will be provided as available and service allows via the information system.


In addition to the challenges associated with lack of power, air quality has become unhealthy for sensitive groups. This level of air quality limits outdoor activities and residents are encouraged to remain indoors with limited outdoor activity. 


The District Office has been without power, but will remain open for business hours, 8:00-4:30pm.


We will provide information about Thursday as early as possible. If our electronic communication system is not operational, principals will implement their emergency phone trees.

Can Do! is the education foundation for the Miller Creek School District.  Can Do! works year-round to raise funds which enrich the educational experience of all students in our elementary schools and here at Miller Creek Middle School.  Can Do! works collaboratively with our parent community, our local business community and the Miller Creek School District Administration to support our students.

Important Notice to Parents in Regards to Student Records

The California Department of Education ("CDE") is currently engaged in litigation with two non-profit associations comprised of parents and guardians of childrens with disabilities.  The plaintiffs in that litigation have requested numerous documents, as well as student data collected and stored by CDE, which may include personally identifiable student information.


To comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), CDE has been ordered, among other things, to inform parents and students of the disclosure of such information.  

CDE has requested that school districts and SELPAs post the following link to CDE’s website: CDE Morgan Hill Case

The link provides information on the Morgan Hill Case Notice of Disclosure of Records and Objection to the Disclosure of Information and Records form to allow parents to object, by April 1, 2016, to the disclosure of personally identifiable information related to their children.

The Miller Creek School District would like to invite the community to view our online solar monitoring system at each of our 4 school sites.  The monitoring system allows you to observe the electricity being produced at the schools by the cleanest most abundant source of energy—the Sun!

What is a School Accountability Report Card (SARC)?
The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators.

The Marin County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) works collaboratively with 19 school districts and other public agencies throughout Marin County to make available a full continuum of special education services.

SchoolsRule is the first cross-county organization to collaborate with every district in Marin to improve education for every student.
