Important Notice to Parents in Regards to Student Records

(Aviso de Divulgacion/Publicacion de Registros Escolares y Objecion a la Publicacion de Informacion y Registros Estudiantiles)

The California Department of Education ("CDE") is currently engaged in litigation with two non-profit associations comprised of parents and guardians of childrens with disabilities.  The plaintiffs in that litigation have requested numerous documents, as well as student data collected and stored by CDE, which may include personally identifiable student information.

To comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), CDE has been ordered, among other things, to inform parents and students of the disclosure of such information.

CDE has requested that school districts and SELPAs post the following link to CDE’s website: CDE Morgan Hill Case

The link provides information on the Morgan Hill Case Notice of Disclosure of Records and Objection to the Disclosure of Information and Records form to allow parents to object, by April 1, 2016, to the disclosure of personally identifiable information related to their children.

Please understand that the district is not a party to the litigation and is not required to disclose any student information, nor does it intend to do so.  For more information, please contact CDE directly at (916) 319-0800.

11-18-2019 PG&E Power Shutoff Update

Dear Miller Creek School District Community,

Many of you received the Marin Sheriff Nixle this morning stating: "Marin County to be affected by PG&E Power Shutoff 11/20 at 4PM nixle.us/BFGTK." We also know that customer notifications and other communications were being sent out all throughout the day.

These situations are fluid and this particular power shut off may impact our district schools differently. We are working with our Marin County Office of Emergency Services personnel, who are closely monitoring the upcoming PG&E PSPS Event. Though this situation is currently expected to impact about 20% of Marin County, we know, based on what we learned in October, that this could change at any time.

As of this moment, we have received notification that ONLY Lucas Valley Elementary may lose power, and perhaps as early as overnight on Tuesday, 11/19. We were advised to make preparations for the possibility that there might be no electrical service at the school for Wednesday, 11/20 and Thursday, 11/21.

Given this information, our plan is a follows:

  • In the event that the power is shut down during the normal school day, school operations will continue through the remainder of the school day.

  • In the event that the power is shut down outside of the normal school day, school will be closed until power is restored. We will only determine a school closure one day at a time.

  • We will make every effort to make the call about closing schools by 6:00pm the day prior in order to give our families and staff time to plan accordingly. Therefore, if the power is out on 11/20, for example, at any MCSD schools, we will determine by 6:00pm that day whether schools will be open or not on 11/21. Parents will be notified by text and email as well as signs posted at schools.

    • If the power is out at all schools

      • Schools are closed

    • If the power is out at one or two schools

      • Students will only report to the school(s) with power

      • The school(s) without power will be closed

      • All MCSD staff will report to work

  • PLEASE NOTE: If schools are closed during the day for students, we still plan to hold the scheduled parent conferences. Site principals will send out additional information about the location of parent conferences.

  • All staff should plan to report to work at their regular time unless directed otherwise by the site/supervisor. Principals and supervisors will communicate the plan for the day and any direction about alternate location in a separate email.

We will provide an update tomorrow afternoon, as any new or updated information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

The Miller Creek School District would like to invite the community to view our online solar monitoring system at each of our 4 school sites.  The monitoring system allows you to observe the electricity being produced at the schools by the cleanest most abundant source of energy—the Sun!

Anti-Harassment Statement

The Miller Creek School District (“District”) does not tolerate acts of harassment, including, but not limited to, harassment based on sex, gender, or gender stereotyping.  The District is committed to promptly investigating and addressing any reports of such harassment.......

What is a School Accountability Report Card (SARC)?
The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators.

The Marin County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) works collaboratively with 19 school districts and other public agencies throughout Marin County to make available a full continuum of special education services.

SchoolsRule is the first cross-county organization to collaborate with every district in Marin to improve education for every student.
