What is Home & School Club (HSC)?

The MCMS Home & School Club (HSC) is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to support Miller Creek Middle School students, teachers, staff, and administrators, and build community and connections between the school and families.

Who is part of HSC?

All parents/guardians of students, administrators, teachers and staff attending MCMS are automatically members of HSC. HSC is overseen by a volunteer Executive Board. The Executive Board includes the MCMS Principal and the following Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and DEI Chair.

What does HSC do?

From WEB day (“Where Everyone Belongs” incoming 6th graders orientation) to graduation day, HSC supports the students and staff at MCMS. We help make it a positive place to learn and work. We also promote community and school spirit among the families of Miller Creek Middle School.

Can you give specific examples of what HSC does for MCMS? HSC funds and supports:

  • Up to $150 of classroom supplies to each MCMS teacher
  • Quarterly lunches for all MCMS Staff, and treats for staff appreciation week
  • Dinner for staff on Back-to-School Night and Open House Night
  • $7500 for 1 to 1 technology for students (Can Do! also funds a portion of this)
  • WEB Day Lunch for all new students, WEB leaders, and MCMS Staff
  • Grade level dances/socials
  • Community building events, like the Ice Cream in the Park, Hispanic Heritage Festival, Book Fair, Community Read, Pig Race Fundraiser, Parent Mixers, Asian American Pacific Islander Festival, Birthday Book Club, and more!
  • Year-end activities for each grade
  • Special speakers or performers for school assemblies
  • Partial sponsorship of graduation events
  • Provide volunteer support for school lunch distribution
  • Support and collaborate with Can Do!

HSC also pays for special projects:

  • In 2024, we committed funds to establish a new PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) "Store" on campus
  • In 2024, we provided free copies of the book, Refugee, to MCMS Staff and families, as part of our Community Read.
  • In 2022, we bought $4000 of new cameras for the MCMS yearbook class
  • Purchased special hoodies for MCMS Staff as a thank you/holiday gift

How does HSC accomplish its goals?

All of our activities are funded by your tax-deductible donations to our annual Spring Pig Race Fundraiser. Tax ID# 51-0214722. Thank you!

How is HSC different from CanDo?

MCMS HSC focuses its support on MIller Creek Middle School. We do our fundraising primarily in the Spring. Can Do! supports all four schools in the Miller Creek School District, and they do their fundraising throughout the school year.
